A Note About Our Name

April 2026

A note about our name —

When this firm was founded 37 years ago, we set out to build something that had never existed: a completely independent investment office, entirely focused on the success of the families and mission-driven institutions who trusted us with their most important financial responsibilities. We called it Hirtle, Callaghan & Co.

The name honored two founding partners. Over time, one retired. The firm grew. The team evolved. Our capabilities multiplied. The work deepened. And through all of it, what never changed was the thing that mattered most: our singular commitment to you.

So, after many years of quiet discussion, we have decided to simplify our name. Going forward, we will operate as Hirtle & Co. The ampersand is intentional. We have always believed we are far greater than the sum of our parts and the & Co. is our reminder of that, built right into our name. You may also notice that our visual identity — our colors, our materials, our website — has been refreshed to be a future-forward expression of who we are.

What has not changed, and will not change, are the things that matter most. Our investment philosophy. Our structure. Our culture. Our independence. Our obsession with creating value for you and the causes you care about. All of that is exactly as it was, only sharper.

Today our investment office manages approximately $26 billion; purchasing power that multiplies what you are able to access: opportunities, managers, and terms that would otherwise be out of reach. But what matters more to us is what that capital is multiplying in the world: medical research, education, the arts, and the communities we call home; missions that outlast all of us. That is the work behind the work.

If you have questions about any of this, the name, the look, where we are headed; please reach out. We welcome the conversation. We always do.

Thank you for the trust you place in us. It is not something we take lightly. It is, in fact, the reason we come to work energized each day.

Warmly,

Susan McEvoy
